Earlier this year, during the City Nature Challenge weekend, eighteen keen-eyed folk set off at sunset in perfect spotlighting weather — warm and still — to record the nocturnal creatures of Blackburn Lake Sanctuary, alongside Kez, Jacquie and Su.
Between them they recorded 5 brushtail possums, 25 ringtail possums, 2 Tawny Frogmouths, 2 flying-foxes (fruit bats), a few spiders, and even a fox having a rest in the bushes near the Visitor Centre. Sadly, only 7 Krefft’s Gliders (the updated name for the Sugar Glider) were spotted this year.
